Housing Needs and Tips
Housing is always difficult to find in the DC area, particularly for recent graduates, and many of the best housing opportunities are
only available by word of mouth. This page is intended to help alumni share
housing needs, temporary or long-term housing opportunities (including housesitting), and tips about how to search for housing in the
area.
Alumni seeking housing
Updated July 4, 2008
Julia Hood '06 is moving to the DC area to attend the Corcoran School of Art + Design where she will pursue an MA in the History of Decorative Arts. She is looking for affordable housing. She would prefer to live in DC, near a metro or within walking distance of the Mall, and is open to group houses or a roommate. Please contact her at jet.hood@gmail.com if you or someone you know can help.
If you are an alumnus looking for housing, please e-mail dcalumni@guilford.edu and include "Housing" in the subject.
Housing leads
At this time there are no postings of housing leads.
To submit a lead on housing, e-mail dcalumni@guilford.edu and include "Housing" in the subject.
Housing Resources
Many recent graduates find that group housing is an affordable alternative to studio or one-bedroom apartments, and a good way to
meet people and make friends. A good place to find leads on group housing is the
The Washington City Paper, a weekly publication that comes out on Wednesday afternoons. Most group houses will place an ad and then
hold interviews during the weekend, so don't wait too long to call!
Craig's List is another good way to find group or single housing opportunities, and the
Washington Post also has listings.
